Always the first Sunday of October,

Autumn on the Green is an award-winning showcase for artisans, crafters, cottage industries and businesses amidst the spectacular views and color of autumn in Danville, Vermont.

Demonstrations by the American Society of Dowsers, a blacksmith, chair maker, and wood turner, plus live music from the bandstand, and delicious food offered on the green embody the welcome of a New England village sharing autumn at its peak.  Festivities are free, accessible and begin at 10 am., concluding at 4 pm, Sunday, October 4, 2009.  Buses are welcome and bus parking is available

With the feel of an old-fashioned exhibition, visitors roam the Village Green and Town Hall.  Artists display a plethora of wares; musicians play from the bandstand; the smells of fried dough, grilled onions and peppers, and hot homemade soups and stews tantalize passers-by. The Pope Library hosts a chicken and biscuit lunch at the Creamery Restaurant, just off the Green.  Gourmet wraps and salads, pulled pork sandwiches, and good old fashioned burgs, dogs ‘n fries are available to please a variety of palates.

Over 100 vendors offer items from whimsical jewelry to dog biscuits. Original artwork, antiques, pottery, home-spun yarn and knitwear, clothing, salves and body products, candles, quilts, baskets, hand-crafted wood products are just some of the offerings available. Vermont specialties featured are maple products, cheese, pumpkins, home-made jams and jellies, pickles and relishes, baked goods and Whoopie Pies!

Located on the picturesque Route 2 corridor, seven miles west of St. Johnsbury in Caledonia County, Danville Vermont offers beautiful, scenic views, fine dining and quaint, country living. Settled in 1785, Danville was named for the French Navy Admiral, Duc D’anville. Thaddeus Stevens, a famous abolitionist, was born in Danville in 1792.

Today, this Northeast Kingdom village, with a population of around 2000, offers historic sites, inns, bed and breakfasts, camping, The Great Corn Maze and much, much more.

From Burlington, Montpelier (or West of Danville): Take US Rte. 2 East from Montpelier. Travel approximately 30 miles into Danville, VT.
